Academy Award®-winning film composer Hans Zimmer will serve as spokesperson and Judging Chair for TCM's 2007 Young Film Composers Competition.

"Hans has been a wonderful asset to our competition over the last few years. We are thrilled to have him on board," said Tom Karsch, executive vice president and general manager of Turner Classic Movies. Zimmer brings more than two decades' experience in film scoring, a host of awards and a passion for nurturing aspiring composers to the table. In the early '90s he cemented his position as a pre-eminent talent with the award-winning score for THE LION KING. The soundtrack sold more than 15 million copies and earned him an Academy Award® for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe, an American Music Award, a Tony and two Grammy Awards. In total, Zimmer's work has been nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy® Awards for RAINMAN, GLADIATOR, THE LION KING, AS GOOD AS IT GETS, THE PREACHER'S WIFE, THE THIN RED LINE, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT and THE LAST SAMURAI. Other credits include CRIMSON TIDE, BLACK HAWK DOWN, THELMA & LOUISE, DRIVING MISS DAISY, and SPANGLISH. His recent and upcoming films include: BATMAN BEGINS, THE DA VINCI CODE, THE HOLIDAY, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN (II & III) and THE SIMPSONS MOVIE.
